On Tuesday, April 7, the BUSM Dean’s Office hosted a Virtual Town Hall on the COVID-19 pandemic with faculty who are recognized experts in the areas of basic research, clinical activities and community efforts.
Nearly 200 students, staff and faculty attended the 90-minute meeting that addressed approximately 50 questions that were submitted in advance by members of the Medical Campus community.? Topics included: the Pandemic; Policy; Prevention & Personal Safety; Face Masks; Treatments; Research; and Recovery Plans.
Karen Antman, MD, BUMC Provost and BUSM Dean, served as moderator and responded to questions about Recovery Plans. Questions about Basic Research were answered by Ronald Corley, PhD, Professor and Chair of Microbiology and Director of NEIDL; Robert Davey, PhD, Professor of Microbiology and NEIDL; and Anthony Griffith, PhD, Associate Professor of Microbiology and NEIDL. Experts fielding Clinical Activity questions included: Tamar Barlam, MD, MSc, Associate Professor of Medicine/Infectious Diseases and Chief, Section of Infectious Diseases; and Manish Sagar, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine/Infectious Diseases and ?Microbiology. Questions about Community Efforts were addressed by Nahid Bhadelia, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine/Infectious Diseases and Joshua Barocas, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine/Infectious Diseases.
